Great idea if the images are of the third and fourth graders with their heads and faces so blown off by an assault weapon the parents have to submit DNA to identify them.

The whole nation needs to see that to understand instead of sending phony and useless thoughts and prayers.

Yeah you just tell me all about how good guys with guns stop bad guys with guns.

And this is just so predictable. As soon as Texas Gov Abbot said they thought the shooter had a handgun and "maybe a rifle" I knew he was lying and the shooter uses an assault weapon. And then yesterday when Abbot was praising all law enforcement saying they had an excellent response I knew he was lying about that as well.

Police Stayed Outside as Uvalde Killer Stormed School, Witnesses Tell AP

Police remained outside Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, as Salvador Ramos murdered 19 students and two teachers in a single classroom on Tuesday, witnesses told the Associated Press on Wednesday. Javier Cazares, whose daughter, Jacklyn Cazares, was killed in the attack, told the wire that officers were still gathered outside the building when he arrived there after hearing about the shooting. Another witness, who saw Ramos crash his truck near the school and shoot at two people outside a neighboring funeral home, said women were yelling at officers to “go in there! Go in there!” While police have given conflicting timelines, the director of the Texas Department of Public Safety said at one point that 40 minutes to an hour passed between when Ramos first shot at a school safety officer—who may or may not have fired back—and then fired on two arriving Uvalde police officers who were outside the building, and when Ramos was finally shot by a tactical team.

“A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Here's what most foreigners (and sadly, some Americans) do not understand about America and gun laws. The 2nd amendment is quite clear; Americans right to own guns cannot be restricted by the Government. The start of the 2nd does make clear that "well regulated" is also a requirement. But, be clear on this point; Americans cherish their freedoms and will not let government restrict them without a lot of discussion and yelling and such. That you have given up rights, or perhaps have never had them, does not mean Americans should give up their rights. Try to understand that, or stop spewing about it. Americans don't give much of a shit if you can't fathom how strongly we cherish our freedoms.

Every tragedy brings out those who think that restricting access to guns will prevent future tragedies.
No. Been there, done that. Doesn't work.
Almost since the day Henry Ford opened his first factory, access to, and the operation of, automobiles has been heavily regulated and controlled. Even the privilege of operating a motor vehicle is strictly regulated, and there are no pesky constitutional prohibitions keeping government from regulating them. Everything from the manufacture of vehicles, to the roads they operate on, to the privilege of driving one, and how they are operated is controlled by government with enforcement always evident.
And still, 43,000 people died in auto accidents in 2021.

Yes, Shooter knows, automobiles and guns are two different topics. The point is, no matter how heavily a government will try to restrict something, it can never be perfect. People will still find a way to kill themselves and, sadly, other people.

There are restrictions in America on gun access and use. Felons for the most part cannot possess guns. People with a history of aggression can't possess them. Owning a fully automatic gun requires special licenses and fees. Particularly lethal ammunition is restricted. One cannot legally own a weapon without first having a background check done. About half of the states have "red flag" laws that allow government to seize, without due process, any guns in the possession of people who "may represent a threat".

The laws, first of all, are not enforced with anything close to the focus of traffic laws, or for that matter, tax laws or criminal laws. Creating new laws that step on the 2nd amendment will only create new conflict, more court challenges, and we have no reason to think that new laws will be enforced or will prevent tragedies.

And in the end, as with cars, the real issue isn't the car, it's the nut behind the wheel. It's the asshole who picks up the gun intending to kill innocents that is the problem, not the tool they use.

Setting aside all the usual bullshit that flies around the issue, the name calling, personal attacks, politization of all of it, the tragedy is that an 18 year old piece of garbage legally bought weapons and then illegally murdered 21 people, most of them kids.

Starting with the realization that no law that will pass constitutional tests would have prevented this asshole from getting the guns, and no law would have prevented him from entering that school, the harsh reality is that the only way this tragedy (and most other tragedies) could have been prevented or made less horrific, is to arm the adults and train them how to kill. The asshole didn't even have a legal right to operate the vehicle he drove to the school, but it didn't stop him, did it? Now perhaps a "red flag" law would have worked, but as we've seen in so many other states that have them, they are worthless laws until someone is willing to step up and point out an asshole with issues and a gun.

Shooter believes that the only way to get a grip on these senseless tragedies is to do a better job of identifying the assholes and human garbage who, for whatever reason, think a massacre is appropriate and then dealing with them before they get their guns.

Trying to control the guns is not the answer. It makes the anti gun bunch feel better, but it doesn't prevent much. We have Chicago and New York (among other places) to understand that. And while the anti gun bunch twirl, and the politicians fall back on the old "never waste a crisis" maneuver, somewhere in America another asshole is loading up his rifles and hand guns, strapping on his body armor, and heading out to make a new headline.

Somehow getting a grip on the fuckers who massacre innocents is a better answer, and yes, the 2nd amendment doesn't say anything about keeping guns out of the hands of assholes. The thing is, identifying and keeping guns out of the hands of nut cases is much harder to do, and do right, than to simply say "NO GUNS!!" But screaming "NO GUNS!!" doesn't stop the assholes, does it? Stopping the asshole, now there's a solution we can get behind, eh?

    Just tell us how.

Finally, all you who would demonize the NRA for it's lobbying and for that matter, anyone who defends the 2nd and any politicians who would accept their contributions, you're tilting at windmills. Defending the 2nd amendment, and for that matter, all of our freedoms, is not only a right, but a duty. So long as the lobbyists are doing it legally, all y'all can sit the fuck down. That is, unless you're willing to also restrict the abortion lobbyists on both sides, and all the rest of the lobbyists out there championing whatever.

Resolving this issue requires sensible gun control laws. Gun ownership and use should be treated like automobile ownership and use. Guns should be registered. The result of a ballistic test should be stored with the gun registered. Those who wish to use guns should be required to take a course and pass a test.

Dog, not one of your suggestions would prevent any of the mass shootings. Everyone of your suggestions infringes on a right guaranteed by the constitution, except your last one about "serious crime".
      Unlawful Possession Penalties (gunstocarry.com)
Punishable in almost every state by a minimum of 6 months, and up to 10 years in prison, even if there are no prior felonies.
Sounds serious to Shooter, especially considering that more serious offenses (in Shooter's opinion) carry lower penalties. Drunk driving for example.

Authorities in Texas arrested a heavily-armed student only one day after the fatal school shooting in Ulvalde.

The Richardson Police Department says that a local business reported seeing a male walking toward Berkner High School on Wednesday morning.

"Within minutes of the call being dispatched, numerous police officers from various units within the Richardson Police Department responded to Berkner High School and initiated a search and investigation into this incident," the department announced on Facebook. "Based on the information provided and in collaboration with Richardson ISD, officers were able to identify the male suspect as a juvenile student of Berkner High School."

"The suspect was located inside Berkner High School, but no weapons were found. Further investigation led to the discovery of a vehicle used by the suspect in the parking lot of 1551 East Spring Valley Road. Inside the vehicle, officers observed what appeared to be an AK-47 style pistol and a replica AR-15 style Orbeez rifle," the department said.

The suspect was arrested and charged with "Unlawful Carrying Weapons in a Weapon-Free School Zone."

The incident occurred one day after an 18-year-old high school drop out allegedly massacred 21 people at Robb Elementary School.

A woman does not have a right to an abortion according to treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans but women and anyone else has the right to buy as many assault weapons ammunition and body armor as they want.

And if some of them use that right to massacre 19 students, two adults, and wound 17 others well now that is just the cost of FREEDOM. Embryos must be protected at all costs. But living kids are expendable for the second amendment.

Well, first of all, @darkride Shooter wasn't attacking Australia. Shooter visited there once and very much wants to return, he found Australia a delightful place full of remarkable people.
The point he wanted to make, the ONLY point he wanted to make, was that Australia has had school shootings.
That was the ONLY point he wanted to make. To simplify it, just like people, all countries leave skids in their panties, so don't be so quick to turn your nose up at others.

Now, lets talk about emotion over kids dying. You may know that when Shooter was a cop the worst part of the job was telling a family a loved one wasn't coming home. The most painful for Shooter was a teenaged girl run over by a drunk driving a speeding truck.

It took us most of the night to pick up the pieces of that girl, although it helped that several large pieces of her body were stuck in the grill of the truck. And that other large pieces rolled into a storefront doorway, making collection easier. The hardest parts were the body parts dragged under the tires of the truck after the asshole slammed on the brakes. Had to have the fire department come wash down the lot while we filtered for body pieces.

It was a closed casket funeral.

Shooter cannot begin to tell you the number of times he had flashes of his own kids being killed by a drunk driver, or some maniac, and it all tracks back to his years as a cop. Some of that shit is there in your head forever.
Shooter hates drunk drivers. Ironically, his own daughter was arrested several times for drunk driving, and it came close to ending our relationship. Thankfully, she was smart enough to understand the problem and luckily she stopped drinking (4 years now) before she hurt someone.

And more recently one of Shooters nephews, a 6 year old, who had a crush on a little red haired girl, had to be told that she had been killed by a drunk driver. Along with mommy and daddy. The little boy in the family survived. Now, all he needs is a mommy and daddy to raise him.

The emotions run high where innocent kids are involved. But, we don't help them or ourselves and we sure as hell don't find good solutions to complicated problems by letting emotion rule our discussion.

    1. darkride
I suspect you are not a hugging man, shooter, but sorry - I'm gonna give you a hug. I really appreciate you sharing that, and having had a fire fighter neighbour in the past, have sadly heard similar stories of the mess that drunk drivers leave behind. Kids are meant to outlive us, and I can't imagine losing any of mine before their time. It is why I get so emotional, even though the chances of them being shot here in Australia is very slim.

Yes, I appreciate that yes we've had some gun crime in Australia, including in educational campuses. But you have to see that what is happening in America is abnormal. It is not happening to the degree that it is happening in America, anywhere else in the Western world. And America is at least seen by myself as the crown of the Western World. Its why we say the US President is the leader of the free world. Or at least, have done for over 50 years.

      Abnormal?
Yes. Any fucker who thinks killing another just because is abnormal. Killing innocent kids is more than abnormal, its fucking evil.

Where we differ, it seems, is gun control. Shooter thinks we need to focus on identifying these assholes and controlling them. You want to control the guns.

We can always count on stumbler to stir the shit in the pot.
Even when what he contributes is at least not accurate, and more likely just more of his lies.
What we know about the Texas elementary school shooting that left 19 students and 2 teachers dead - CNN
Ramos crashed his vehicle at 11:28 a.m., DPS Regional Director Victor Escalon said at a news conference Thursday.
He exited his vehicle on the passenger side of his truck, carrying a rifle and a bag, Escalon said, citing witness accounts.
The shooter saw two witnesses at a funeral home across the street, Escalon said, and fired at them before continuing to walk toward the school. He climbed a fence into a parking lot and began shooting at the school.
There were no officers at the school when the gunman arrived, Escalon said, walking back earlier information put out by his agency that the gunman first encountered an armed school resource officer.
DPS officials had previously said the gunman was "engaged" by a school officer, and that the gunman dropped a black bag full of ammunition outside the school during that encounter.
That earlier information was "not accurate," Escalon told reporters, and nobody confronted the shooter from the time he left his grandmother's house to the time he entered the school. The shooter, he said, "walked in unobstructed, initially."

Escalon said it appears the suspect walked through an unlocked door, "so, we are going to look at that and try to corroborate that as best we can."
"We will find out, as much as we can, why it was unlocked, or maybe it was locked. But right now it appears it was unlocked," he said.
That door is "typically locked," said Ross McGlothlin, a former principal for the school. "It's an exterior door that you don't need to go to unless you're leaving to go home on a school bus," McGlothlin told CNN on Thursday.
The district had in place a safety plan with its own police force, social media monitoring and a threat reporting system to "provide a safe and secure environment" for students, its website states. It's not clear to what degree the plan was developed with active shooters in mind.
The shooter walked into the west side of the school at 11:40 a.m., Escalon said. He walked through the school and into the adjoining classroom with opened doors between them.
Four minutes after the gunman made entry to the school, Escalon said, officers with the Uvalde Police Department and school district entered the school and heard gunfire.
"Officers are there, the initial officers, they received gunfire, they don't make entry initially because of the gunfire they're receiving. But we have officers that are calling for additional resources," Escalon said, describing requests for equipment such as body armor and personnel, including negotiators.
While those calls are being made, officers were evacuating students and teachers from the school, he said.
An hour later, Escalon said, a tactical team comprised of officers from US Border Patrol, the Uvalde County Sheriff's Office and the Uvalde Police Department made entry and fatally shot the suspect.
The shooter barricaded himself in the adjoining classrooms where the 19 fourth-graders and two teachers were slaughtered, per DPS officials.
Exactly how the shooter barricaded himself inside the classrooms -- whether he locked the door or created a physical barrier, for example -- also remains unclear, Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Chris Olivarez said Thursday morning. "We're still trying to establish if there was any type of locking mechanism on the doorway from inside the classroom."
Over 80 federal officers responded immediately to the carnage, and soon 150 converged on the area, US Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz told CNN on Wednesday.
The agents and other law enforcement officers took fire from the shooter, who had barricaded himself, Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Marsha Espinosa tweeted. "Risking their own lives, these Border Patrol Agents and other officers put themselves between the shooter and children on the scene to draw the shooter's attention away from potential victims and save lives," she wrote.
Now authorities are digging into key questions
Authorities are still investigating and trying to piece together a full timeline, Escalon said at Thursday's news conference.

Amid the unknowns, questions swirled about the police response.
"So, we're trying to establish every single timeline as far as how long the shooter was inside the classroom, how long did the shooting take place. But as of right now, we have not been able to establish that," Olivarez told CNN.
Emergency protocol calls for ending a threat as quickly as possible because fatalities happen in seconds to minutes, experts said.
"According to the way that active shooter training is deployed now, police officers are taught that you need a team of three. Once you have three officers ... you go into the required formation and you make entry into that space wherever the shooter is," Andrew McCabe, CNN senior law enforcement analyst, told CNN on Thursday afternoon.
By Escalon's account, at least three officers were on scene by 11:44 a.m.
"You could make the argument that any one of those individual officers should have gone in even earlier than that but certainly by 11:44 (a.m.), they have three officers there, that would be consistent with the training," McCabe added.

Bill Melugin Asks Great Question About How Uvalde Shooter Was Able to Buy Guns and Ammo

There are a lot of questions being asked now about the Uvalde shooting, including about the reaction of the police and if they responded as quickly as they could have to the shooting.

But some other questions need to be answered as well. Fox News’ Bill Melugin asked a big question: how does an unemployed high school dropout have enough money to buy multiple, pricey rifles and ammo?

    https://twitter.com/BillFOXLA/statu...shooter-was-able-to-buy-guns-and-ammo-n570486

The shooter is believed to have bought at least two AR-15s, one of which was a pricey Daniel Defense model that generally costs over $2,000. He posted a receipt for it on social media, which said he paid $1,870 for it, with tax it was $2,024.28. One was bought May 17, the other May 20. On one of them, he also had a pricey optic which costs more than $700. Not to mention all the ammo — at least 375 rounds — which doesn’t come cheap now, either. Plus he was wearing a plate carrier, although it didn’t have any ballistic armor inside it. He is believed to have had more than seven, 30-round magazines in the school and several more magazines that he dropped in a bag outside the school.

There were also questions raised about the truck he was driving, which was also not cheap. That truck belonged to his grandmother.

Now, part of the answer to the question may be that he had previously been working at a Wendy’s, he said, to save up money for the guns to buy them after he turned 18. He told a co-worker, Grace Cruz, that.

She claimed Ramos openly talked about using the money he earned at Wendy’s to purchase guns and ammo, adding that he ‘suddenly quit’ weeks before Tuesday’s shooting.

‘He told us he was saving up money for guns and ammo. We would ask him, ‘Why would you spend your money on that, spend it on a car or something useful,’ Cruz said. ‘I guess once he got enough money, he quit and stopped showing up.’

That raises the question of how long he had been planning this attack. Cruz said the shooter was rude and scruffy, that something was off about him and that she thought he had mental and other issues. She mentioned $4,000, but it sounds like the total probably is more than that. What he had would be pricey for anyone, much less someone just working at Wendy’s. He may have been able to save a lot of what he made, if his grandmother was paying for everything else in his life. But that still seems like a lot, and this is a good question for which we need some answers.
