There's almost nothing I love more than attending a concert. I'm sure I’m not alone in that ..
With COVID and/or other reasons.. it's been quite a while for most of us I'm sure.

I've watched a lot of concerts online this past year .. and have a blast right at my computer.

Post a concert or live musical performance you enjoy :)

Ps .. I wasn't sure if I should put this in General Discussion or Games ..
I figured Games already has a lot of song games ..
but if this doesn't belong here .. please let me know ... Thank you :)

I used to have the video of their entire concert at Knebworth, when the Rolling Stones chose them as their opening band. Lynyrd completely upstaged the Stones - an awesome concert.

Notice them out on the extended stage, where they were 'forbidden' by the Stones to go. Oops - our bad...

It's very sad to note that within a year, on October 20, 1977, Ronnie, Steve Gaines (the incredible new guitarist in the light blue jeans and vest) and his background singer sister Cassie, along with several other non-band members, would no longer be with us. RIP all...

Another of my favorite videos, ...said this before, I heard an interview, at that show, the Stones were the main event, hence the tongue shaped stage, stones had it written into the show that no band was to walk onto the tongue,
it was very cool watching RVZ say fuck that and walk the boys onto the tongue at 4:00...also said, Mick had a fit..

...he also had a fit when The Who, upstaged them at the "Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus'...Mick kept that film under wraps for 25 years, big baby!

Best concert I ever saw (1974):
    Top Bill: The Jefferson Starship
2nd Bill: Fleetwood Mac - the Bob Welch lineup - just before Lindsay and Stevie took over
    3rd Bill: Triumvirat

I actually went to see Triumvirat, a progressive keyboard-based band from Germany.
    They were amazing!

But... they were so good that Fleetwood Mac obviously felt they had to outdo them (I was mixed on the Macs - I was a Peter Green Mac fan) and they DID!
So the Starship comes out (I was a HUGE Jefferson Airplane, but was kinda lukewarm on this new manifestation).

The Starship pulled out ALL the stops! One of the most incredible sets I ever saw! The band was hot, with the awesome guitarist Craig Chaquico (who was the main reason I was still listening to them as they had turned so much into a Pop Rock band). Grace was at the height of her considerable sexual appeal - she was SMOKIN'!
I remember her slithering around on top of a grand piano belting out a torch song... be still, my beating, horny heart...

I just can't find any video of this amazing concert.

Saw Robin Trower at the Whisky a-Go-Go when he was promoting this album. The album was absolutely KICK-ASS!, but Robin played better than the album. He was awesome, and I had loved this soulful guitarist since his Procol Harum days.

    The Long Beach Auditorium - '72, '73 or 74'
Since torn down, it was one of my favorite venues - smallish - a downstairs with wrap-around balconies upstairs - the best acoustics in LA. NOT to be confused with the big tin drum called the Long Beach Arena.

Top Bill: King Crimson (The Larks Tongues in Aspic tour)
2nd The Strawbs a huge fave back in those days)
3rd Bill: Foghat (Loved them, but not a fit for the other two bands)

I could swear they toured 2 years in a row with this lineup, but I can't even find this concert on google.
This is from 2015, and King Crimson is still as flawless as ever, considering this song debuted in 1969 (I just found this, and I love it!)

      Let the fray begin
Rush was never a media darling, they, as popular as they were, were never mainstream. From the early days, Finding my Way, they did it on there own in a, My Way Frank couldn't deny. That is the true spirit of Rush. Spirit of Radio is iconic, ironic and a putting of radios value in check, almost free, for radio won't touch Rush for years, despite selling out shows for more then a decade before radio gave them airtime.
Why are their fans so loyal? Simple, they are the underdogs, they are the garage band, with no inside help, that made it to the top. To many Rush fans, the "top" happened long ago, and the fact the industry ignored them is not just a point of pride, but a solid fuck you, for doing so. Three guys, doing what it took, doing what they love, doing relentlessly for their fans, is what this garage band is, and in the eyes of anyone who ever picked up an instrument, a fact. It can be done.

The passing of Neil, an non-replacable part, just as Alex and Geddy are, Mark an end of an era. The full story of Rush will never be told, for words will do it no justice. It is a story that had to be experienced, to be lived. To thousands of Rush fans, that is what they did, they had the opportunity to experience Rush. To Alex, Geddy, and Neil who are the Rush experience, there is only two words that will do justice, Thank You.

I hear ya, drummers are the insanity that rocks rock n roll bands. The down side is drummers are the insanity. I started beating the skins in grammar school, and when I grow up I want to be just like Keith Moon and drive my Rolls Royce into the hotel pool.
Still trying to get my speed up on the polymetrics like Simon Phillips.

Very true - the drummers I played with - except for one female, were typically animals - but they got a fuck of a lot of pussy.
We used to joke that we would just throw raw meat to the back of the stage for them.

NOT for an amazing talent like 'The Professor' Neal Peart, but honestly... for most of them.

There are some big shoes to fill, Bozo, Moon, Don Henley, Ginger, plenty of crazy stories from their time. Tommy Lee, Freakin Rick Allen, loosing an arm in a car wreck, but stubborn or crazy, probably both, still drumming, Carmen and Vinne Apice, Tommy Eldridge, Billy Cabham, straight faced Charlie Watts, Buddy Rich, Gene Kurpa, the list is endless, they all have stories.
I think it is the second or third rudiment, you learn, crazy helps, how else you gonna get though the repetition of the next, ? 50 or 60 rudiments now, lol. 24 when I started.

It takes a certain mindset to dedicate yourself to drums. No scales or harmony, no notes - just different timbres of drums. I once learned to play Tom Petty's 'Breakdown' on drums, and that was enough for me.

Another HUGE favorite: Little Feat. I didn't know them until a classmate played them for me at the Musicians Institute in 1979, and I fucking loved them. Unfortunately, while I was still in school that year, the bandleader, Lowell George died, so I never saw the original lineup. It took them eleven years to come back, but I damn sure caught the show in 1990 at the Hollywood Palladium, with their awesome new album 'Let it Roll'. The title song is a major hot tune - I think they used in in the Arnie movie 'Twins'. I forget if there even was an opening act...
