Paramount+ is planning a new subscription for summer 2025. The video streaming service relies on an advertising-financed model, but paramount+ base is not completely free of charge. In essence, there are few differences to the standard variant, but more advertising. We explain the details of the planned subscription below.
The film and series selection with Paramount+ base
The basic subscription from Paramount+ is supposed to offer the same content as the standard and premium variant. This gives you the pleasure of popular content such as Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, 1923 or Tulsa King. In terms of content, the subscription will not only be able to keep up with the other subscription models, but also with other video streaming services.
The selection of “exclusive” and “Originals” is currently not as large as the competition, but they can keep up with the in -house productions of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Co. Over time, the selection should grow steadily here.

The planned features of Paramount+ Base are manageable. There should be no download function. You should be able to use the service via a device. In the standard variant, on the other hand, up to 2 people can stream up to 4 people in the premium subscription at the same time on different devices.
Therefore, we take a closer look at the image and sound quality, which is planned for the basic subscription in the summer of 2025.
Which image resolution is planned?
The planned image resolution is said to be a maximum of full HD, but this is not surprising. As a cheapest subscription – we still come at the price – you shouldn't expect anymore. Although more and more users swear by 4K-capable devices, the Full HD resolution of our view is just in the frame. In the long run, however, this impression should change.
Will there be Dolby Atmos support?
There will be no dolby support for the basic subscription. If you want to enjoy Dolby Atmos and also Dolby Vision, then you have to complete the Paramount+ Premium subscription.
Paramount+ basis: price, advertising and trial subscription
At 5.99 dollars, the basic subscription is the cheapest alternative of the provider. Paramount+ Standard, on the other hand, costs 7.99 dollars, Paramount+ Premium 12.99 dollars. The low price is made possible by an advertising -based model, which means that your advertising should be displayed in the middle. This advertising can be from any third -party provider. It remains to be seen exactly how this will develop.
If you want to test the basic variant, it should – according to the current state of affairs – a probebo give. You can currently test the service for the existing subscriptions for 7 days. It is therefore obvious that the basic subscription could get the same test period.
The differences to Paramount+ Standard and Premium
The biggest difference is certainly the advertising in the middle of film and series. If you don't mind that, you will discover the right subscription for yourself with Paramount+ base. This advertising -based model does not appeal to us personally. The core idea of video streaming services was originally in paying money in order not to see any advertising like on TV.
In addition, in contrast to the other subscriptions, there should be no download function, so that you can only watch the content online. There are also no several parallel streams, and the image resolution is expected to be limited to Full HD.
Conclusion: Is the basic subscription worth?
Although not every user will be a fan of advertising -financed subscriptions, Paramount+ base still has a right to exist. In particular, people who do not want to spend too much money may find a suitable streaming subscription in summer.
If you are bothered by advertising interruptions, then Paramount+ Standard or Premium is your best choice. You should choose the premium variant if you also want to look in 4K resolution.
